Bungas of Kutch

Let me begin this series on Kutch, with a this post on the beautiful dwelling of people of this region. The round walled, conical roofed "bunga" is the finest example of organic living. Beautifully decorated bungas have mud walls and roof made of hay. The richly painted bungas are in sharp contrast to the arid landscape of the region...

Inside the bungas provide relief from the scorching heat. The unique architecture ensures that the bunga is cool in summers and warm in winter!
